“Khao Lak ist im Vergleich mit Phuket oder z.B. Pattaya beschaulich, ruhig und noch recht ursprünglich. Trotzdem ist alles da, was das Touristen-Herz erfreut. Die Händler und Restaurantbetreiber sind wenig bis gar nicht aufdringlich und immer freundlich.
Ausflugsmöglichkeiten sind jede Menge gegeben. In der Nähe befinden sich mehrere große Nationalparks, z.B. Khao Sok, zu denen man Tagesauflüge oder auch mit Übernachtung machen kann. Dabei geht es per Bamboo-Rafting über Urwaldflüsse und zu beeindruckenden Wasserfällen. Man begegnet Elefanten und Schlangen.
In Khao Lak gibt es jede Menge Tauchbasen, die Touren zu den Similans und anderen vorgelegenen Inseln auch für Nichttaucher und Schnorchler anbieten. Diese sind auch über Nacht als Liveaboard möglich. Wir sind dabei direkt einem Walhai begegnet. Empfehlen kann ich hier die Fun-Divers unter schweizer Leitung. Freundlich, kompetent, unkompliziert und für erfahrene Taucher erfreulich wenig Gängelung. Preislich sind alle Basen ziemlich gleich. Wer Thailand unaufgeregt und ruhig erleben will, ist hier gut aufgehoben.”

“Khao Lak is a great destination for a relaxed beach vacation, where you can truly enjoy the nature and local genuine hospitality that Thailand is so famous for. This vacation property is located within walking distance to the famous Khao Lak Night Market where you can find numeruous shopping opportunities, clothes, souvenirs, decoration and a large selection of small huts selling local food and drinks. We visited that market several times a week, either for buying food or just to walk around and browse for nice bargains.
There are several small massage places right on the beach which you must try out while enjoying a drink of your choice afterwards, everything within walking distance from this property.”

“Khao Lak is a resort area that generally suits those that like to relax and unwind, many visitors are generally around the pools and beaches, and venturing into town in the evenings. For us though the best part of Khao Lak is the surrounding area, the National Parks and the unspoilt beaches a little further north of the town. So if you are like use and like to explore we would recomend a car to get the best of Khao Lak.”
