Franka Sarajli on the ski resort was greeted with banners that said "We love Jurek more than a burek". Nevertheless, the biggest stars of the Sarajevo Olympics were participants in the art of racing in art skating. The most impressive was the British pair Jayne Torvill and Christopher Dean who won the gold medal. At the ZOI 84 gold medal was also won by the East German skater Katarina Witt, whom the Sarajevo Olympics made one of the biggest sports icons from the end of the 20th century. Only 8 km southwest of Sarajevo, Ilidža has for a long time served as a resting place for the inhabitants of the town who can enjoy the thermal waters, the recreational center and the beautiful park around the Bosna River, known as Vrelo Bosna.
The park is filled with green fields, clear lakes made from innumerable ice-cold springs, and there is also a playground for children as well as two traditional restaurants serving very delicious food. The source can be reached by car, by foot, by bicycle or by the attraction of the carriage. The three kilometer long ale is closed for motorized traffic and is ideal for running, cycling or walking. It is possible to rent a car from the Austro-Hungarian periodwhich will take you by 10 KM to the end of the ale. This is the only place in Bosnia and Herzegovina where we still hold that tradition.
Not far from Vrelo Bosna is the Roman bridge. Although named after the Roman Bridge, it dates from the Ottoman period and is named after the Roman excavations in this area. Ilidza is the fastest growing tourist region of Sarajevo. There is a new pool complex that works all year round, the Ilidza thermal riviera. Hotel Terme, also located on Ilidža, has recently restored the work of the recreational-rehabilitation center and offers full bath care services. In the center of this park, the hotels Austria, Bosnia, Hungaria and Herzegovina have been built, which still exist today. Ilidza has thus become one of the most beloved Monden sites of the Austro-Hungarian aristocracy - the crown prince and his wife, the greatest monarchs ... In the immediate vicinity of Ilidža there is a monument of the nature of Vrelo Bosne, which is reached through the three and a half kilometer long alley of platinum and chestnuts.
The Great Alley, planted until 1894 with a total of 726 trees of roe deer and dozens of wild chestnut trees, is ideal for walking, cycling and rolling, running ... It is a natural park filled with springs and streams, lakes and islets. The spring of Bosnia is a morphological, hydrological and botanical-horticultural phenomenon, one of the most beautiful places in Sarajevo and its surroundings. In the area of Vrelo Bosne there is also the main source of drinking water from the city of Sarajevo - Bačevo. This area, which covers an area of 603 hectares, is home to at least 26 different plant communities and 20 animal species, some of which are endemic. Small Bosnia, a watercourse that spills six springs from the area of the Spring of Bosnia, is an indigenous species of trout trout.
The Great Alley is a walking path connected with the area of Stojčevec, another one of Sarajevo's natural excursions. Stojčevac is made up of forest parks, beautiful bush of wild roses, raspberries and blackberries. Near this natural paradise there is a necropolis Vrutci with an archaeological site of the former church of Sts. Stjepan Prvomučenik from the 10th century, as well as the Roman bridge from the Ottoman period. The recognizable symbol of Ilidža and Vrela Bosne are well-known skiers, who have been transporting guests to Veliki Ajede from Ilidza to the Spring of Bosnia for more than 100 years.
