Holiday House in Goni with Private Pool and Beautiful Views

The holiday villa is a traditional lodging located in the heart of the White mountains of Chania. It is situated in the Askifou plateau of the province of Sfakia, Crete. It is approximately 50km from the city of Chania, at an altitude of 780m. The Askifou plateau resembles a large cup, from which it is considered to have gotten its name, as the ancient word “Skifos” means cup.

There are four little villages that make up the plateau: Ammoudari, Goni, Kares and Petres, which are all sparsely populated with a total of approximately 440 permanent residents. The holiday villa is a double floor stone built traditional Cretan village house of 140 square metres. Big windows on all the sides of holiday villa provide plenty of day light. It features three bedrooms and can accomodate up to seven persons.

The ground floor consists of a living area, a fully equipped kitchen, one bathroom (bath tub and shower device, wash basin and toilet) and one big bedroom with 180 x 200 cma double bed and a large wardrobe. The living area has a big fireplace, a dining table and a comfortable sofa that can be folded out into a single bed. The kitchen is complete with Ceran cooktop, oven, microwave, fridge with freezer compartment, kettle, toaster and coffee machine.

A wide wooden staircase leads up to the first floor where you find two more large bedrooms (both with a 180 x 200 cm double bed and one with an extra 90 x 200 cm single bed) and the second bathroom. The large bathroom between the two bedrooms on this floor has a shower cabin, wash basin and toilet.

TV and WI-FI are available free of charge.

You have a choice of two spacious terraces: One is in front of the main entrance, the other accessible via the first floor. From here you can enjoy the beautiful views of the White Mountains. The private pool can be illuminated at night.

The furniture in the villa is antique, it has been lovingly collected throughout the years.

The holiday villa is at a distantance of 60 kilometers from Chania Airport, close to the village of Askifou. In the village you will find a supermarket, cafes and traditional tavernas where you can experience the local cusine and the famous Cretan hospitality and spirit. The beach of Sfakia is only approximately 17 kilometers away. During your stay you can visit the War Museum of George Hatzidakis that displays exibits from the 2nd World War, which Hatzidakis himself had collected over the past 50 years. Other activities include horse-riding, mountain biking, trecking and bungee jumping on the Aradena Bridge (138m). You can visit the Samaria Gorge, the largest gorge in Europe, which is a National Park and stretches up to 15km, as well as other impressive gorges such as Imvros, Aradena, Kallikratis. There are also several caves in the area that are well worth a visit.

    “Sehr schönes Steinhaus in schöner Lage.
    Wer einen ruhigen, authentischen Urlaub auf Kreta machen möchte, ist hier genau richtig.
    Das Haus ist größer, als die Bilder im Internet hergeben. Der Pool ist klein, aber zur Abkühlung genügt es- wird täglich gereinigt.
    Wir wurden herzlich empfangen und die Handtücher und Bettwäsche wurden auf Wunsch gewechselt.”
