The town of Guatiza is located in the northeast of the island of Lanzarote. Located on a large plain of very fertile land and surrounded by volcanoes and calderas, its landscape contrasts with the blue of the sky and the sea.
At present their houses are dispersed, forming a somewhat more compact nucleus near their Church. Around it, the volcanoes of Guenia, TinaMala, La Caldera and Las Calderetas are sometimes a good refuge for the winds.
Originally the town was located on the slope of the mountain where today is the cemetery, since from that situation you could see the merchant ships. This advantage meant that, in turn, the Moors plundered their houses on multiple occasions, so that their inhabitants moved to the lower part, where the mountains offered them greater security.
