Skiing is possible from December to March, and in summer, you can walk or mountain bike along its beautiful trails. From Maloja, you can visit the Val Bregaglia with its chestnut groves and attend the many events held there. For shopping, you can go to St. Moritz or to the beautiful town centre of Chiavenna in Italy, about 45 minutes by car. 
There are a few restaurants in Maloja, also offering vegetarian cuisine; a small shop with excellent local cheeses and breads and jams satisfies daily needs.
