Lovely House in Houyet with Barbecue and Terrace

The semi-detached house is on the outskirts of a little village, in a quiet location on a cul-de-sac, surrounded by fields and forests and not far from the beautiful valleys of the Meuse and the Lesse.

The ca. 280m² renovated semi-detached house from the year 1899 can accommodate eight people on two floors. The ground floor has a living room with a sitting corner and a TV, an open kitchen and dining space, and a further lounge with a fireplace (firewood is not provided), the first bathroom with a bath and a separate WC. The kitchen is fully-equipped with a ceramic hob, oven, microwave, dishwasher, fridge with freezer compartment, mini oven, toaster, kettle and coffee machine, and a further dining table in the middle. On the upper floor there are three bedrooms, of which two have a double bed 140 x 200cm and one has two single beds 90 x 200cm, as well as a gallery with a further double bed 140 x 200cm. There is also a second bathroom on this floor with a shower and WC. All the rooms have radiators (central heating). Wireless Internet access is available. There are a washing machine and dryer in a separate laundry room.

Guests can benefit from the 1600m² site. A large, paved terrace with a grill and garden furniture is available. Cars can be parked in front of the house.

The house is the right place for all those who would like to relax in quiet surroundings. The beautiful valleys of the Meuse and the Lesse, as well as the Freyr cliffs, are not far away. There is a tennis court about 500 metres away and a golf course about 10km away. You can go riding about 5km away. It is only about 500 metres to the nearest grocery shop and 5km to restaurants.

    “The situation was good, close to DInant, where we wanted to visit.
    As we entered the house it was very musty and we had all doors open to provide a through draught every time we were there.
    The space was amazing, but overall it was very dark inside.
    The kitchen had plenty of equipment but the oven was dirty and so was the air fryer.
    The bedding was very basic and felt a bit damp and the pillows were awful, lumps of foam and not at all comfortable.
    There were no tea towels - we don't use a dishwasher and so washed up as we went.
    The shower had virtually no water pressure and we were unable to use it so all five of us used the one bath with a shower over it - no curtain or anything.
    Both the toilets had an unpleasant smell.
    As the lady spoke only French( my own French is ok but not proficient) it made it difficult to explain any of this at the time.
    We paid the 50 euros for cleaning but we left the place cleaner than it was when we arrived and the 50 Euros from any previous occupants had obviously not been used!
    The only plus was that there was a washing machine which we were able to use half way through our travels around France, Germany and Belgium.
    This is the worst accommodation I have stayed in during the 50 years I have travelled in Europe.
    It was reasonably priced and I suppose you get what you pay for.
    I am recovering from an operation so didn't want to make a fuss at the time but very begrudgingly paid the 50 Euros because the lack of cleanliness was the main issue.”
