Located on the northern side of Brač, the largest of the Dalmatian Islands, Supetar is the island's main tourist and transportation hub. Culture and history
The city of Supetar's unique circular stone field houses with their curious domed roofs resemble prehistoric dwellings. Supetar's principal attractions include the 18th parish church of St Peter with its imposing bell tower which houses paintings by the local Baroque painter Feliks Tironi. The mausoleum of the Petrinović family contains impressive portraits and sculptures by Toma Rosandić. The cemetary also merits a visit with several tombstones sculpted by Supetar's own Ivan Rendic, considered the finest Croatian sculptor of the 19th century. A little further away from the bustle of the main town is the 12th century St. Luka Church, best known for the oldest preserved narrative of a ship in Dalmatia, which is engraved on a wall inside.
